What Are You Thankful For?

Written by Kendall Bergman

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit behind on my posts. I was under the weather for several weeks just as the holiday season was starting. It’s the new year and I’m excited to catch up. So, humor me as I look back a little bit here.

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was good. While I wasn’t feeling great…struggling with sinus drainage and a pretty nasty cough…I was happy to spend time with family. It was an easy holiday for the most part. There were about a dozen people and 5 dogs. Even so, there were no major relational blow ups or emotional breakdowns.

As I reflect back on 2022, here are some things I’m thankful for.

  • Deepening faith and dependence on God

  • Increased affection with family and friends

  • Satisfaction and challenge in my work

  • Opportunities to step into vulnerability and humility

  • Painful and life-giving moments of redemption and sanctification

  • The gift of travel and exploration

  • Growing desire to practice presence

  • The first cup of coffee in the morning

  • Welcome home from my dogs…even if I’ve only taken out the trash

  • Time with my nieces and nephews and their children

  • Laughter with my sisters

  • Life-giving conversations with friends

  • Long walks outside

  • Good meals shared with people I love

  • Homemade pies

  • Fires in the fireplace

  • Earthy fragrant candles

  • Delicious and comforting hot tea

Those are some of the big and little things I’m thankful for. As you look back on 2022, what are you thankful for? Dig deep…you’ll find something. I’d love to hear what you come up with. Share here or email me at kendall@thediscoverywell.com.
